FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Before We Meet
-
Actually, many of my clients feel that way.
Often, the people I work with have spent years being capable, dependable, and the one others rely on. Therapy offers a place where you don't have to carry everything by yourself.
Support isn't a sign of failure. It's part of being human.
-
That's okay.
You don't need the perfect explanation or a neatly organized list of concerns. Part of my role is helping you make sense of what's feeling difficult, confusing, or overwhelming.
You can start exactly where you are.
-
The relationship between therapist and client matters.
That's why I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation. We'll talk briefly about what brings you in, answer your questions, and see whether working together feels like the right fit.
What Therapy is Like
-
The first session is simply a conversation.
We'll talk about what's bringing you to therapy, what's been feeling difficult, what you're hoping for, and any questions you have. There's no pressure to tell your entire life story—we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
-
Not necessarily.
Understanding your past can provide valuable context, but therapy is also about your life today. Some sessions focus on insight, while others are practical and centered on helping you move toward the life you want to build.
-
Most clients begin with weekly sessions. As things improve or your needs change, we may decide together to meet less frequently.
We'll find a rhythm that works for you.
-
Yes.
I offer secure virtual therapy for adults throughout Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, as well as in-person sessions in Cumberland, Rhode Island.
Together, we'll decide which format best fits your needs, preferences, and schedule.
-
For many people, yes.
Research shows that telehealth can be just as effective as in-person therapy for concerns like anxiety, depression, grief, and life transitions. We'll choose the format that feels most supportive for you.
Practical Stuff
-
I ask for 48 hours' notice whenever possible if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.
Life happens, and I understand that unexpected situations arise. My full cancellation policy will be reviewed before we begin so there are no surprises.
-
If you're running behind, please let me know as soon as you can.
We'll use the remaining scheduled time whenever possible. Because another client may be scheduled afterward, sessions generally can't be extended beyond their scheduled end time.
-
Good Enough Counseling Co. is not a crisis service and I do not provide 24/7 emergency support.
If you're experiencing a mental health emergency or believe you may be at immediate risk of harming yourself or someone else, please call 911, go to your nearest emergency room, or contact the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988.
-
Yes.
I offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation so we can briefly discuss what you're looking for, answer your questions, and determine whether we're a good fit before scheduling your first appointment.

Do I need therapy if things aren’t that bad?
We are all deserving of support.
Many people come to therapy because they are carrying a lot, feeling stuck, navigating change, or simply wanting to better understand themselves. You don’t need a crisis or breaking point to benefit from support.
If something is taking up space in your life, it’s worth talking about.
